The Pumpkin Liner: October 22nd

We rode the Thunder Mountain Line "Pumpkin Liner" on October 22nd. Sadly this was another time when Jared's schedule did not allow him to come with us, so JR and I hitched a ride with Maitland and Katie and we met my parents up on Horseshoe Bend.
The first half of the trip we rode in an enclosed car and JR spent much to the time turned around flirting with the teenage girl behind him.

He did turn around and paid us some attention after a while though, especially after grandpa took him to get some candy.

Looking out the window with uncle Maitland...

What a cutie!

When we arrived at Montour each ticket holder got to pick out a pumpkin to bring home. JR was going around touching all the tops of the pumpkins. He was too funny.

It was very hard to pick just the right pumpkin!

The train Nazi yelled at us for taking this picture whit JR sitting on the edge.
He said, "these old trains can just move at any time without warning!"
I think they have bigger problems then a kid being held tight by his grandfather if that happens. All the people getting on and off the train at the ramps holding giant pumpkins are more likely to be screwed but whatever.

On the return trip we rode outside and it was awesome. If you ever ride the train and there is good weather go outside for sure. Much more exciting!
JR wasn't really interested in looking over the side though. He wanted to chill with his pumpkins.
He thought he was too cool for school sitting on those pumpkins!

And sitting on the step...

It was a fun day. I fully plan on riding the Polar Express train next month!

Labor Day Utah Trip

We took a little road trip to Utah over Labor Day weekend. My brother Maitland and his wife Katie went down in their car and JR and I went with my sister Mercedes.
Here are the highlights:

University of Utah campus tour by Katie for Mercedes.

JR got some goodies from the bookstore...

Wearing his hat backwards because he is that cool!

Outlet mall shopping trip.
Of course it resulted in a new coach purse!

JR taking a much needed shopping break and goofing around at the outlets...

Hiding under his napkin at the sports bar where we watched the BSU game...

We went to Hogle Zoo on Sunday. I could not resist the gift shop when we were waiting for Maitland and Katie to arrive. I finally caved and got one of those leash backpacks. I also go JR this little stuffed tiger on a "leash" which is some fabric covering a pole so that the stuffed animal "walks" out in front of the child. They were expensive but so worth it. Now, get ready for the most adorable picture ever!...
He was sooooo proud of that tiger!

And what would any post be without a crappy picture of me?
Cede, JR and I on the train...

I am going to leave it at that for this post. We went out to dinner with Katie's parents one night and they brought JR a bag of presents. They are seriously the nicest people, I can't believe it! Oh, and JR totally flirted with Katie's sister Emma the whole night! It was hilarious.
Trips to Utah are always fun and we never have enough time to do everything we want when we are down there. Hopefully we can make it down again soon and Jared can come with us!

Full of Hot Air?

So these catch up posts are going to be pretty brief! I like to blog and am happy to be back at it after JR destroyed our old laptop but posting things that happened one and two months ago means lack of the little details.

So we went to the Spirit of Boise Hot air Balloon Classic at the end of August. Uncle Maitland and aunt Katie joined us in the wee hours of the morning. We all said we went just for JR but in the end I think we all thought it was pretty cool and we never remembered all the logistics that went in to launching the balloons from when my mom used to take us as kids.

Up close watching the first balloon inflate...

FIRE!

Very exciting!

Watching with uncle Matt...

Oh hey Ma! Don't bother me. I'm lookin' at the balloons...

Okay I hate the way I look but I can't use that as an excuse not to remember these moments...

And more balloons...
